The Daily Grind

Its easy for us to get lost in the daily grind. Things become routine and we sometimes get big-headed on our own abilities based on previous accomplishments. Or, it can be the complete opposite. We might think we aren’t worthy because of previous failures. Wherever you may fall in this spectrum, this scripture is a gentle reminder for you.

It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own.
Our qualification comes from God.
— 2 Corinthians 2:3 (NLT)

When I’m studying the Word, I tend to read the same scripture in different translations to get better understanding on what God is saying. Sometimes we just need to hear/read things a different way for it to really click for us.

“Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God.”

I’ve read this scripture many times in the past. However, after reading it in Be Renewed: Beginning Again With God devotional the other day, I was finally able to see it through different lenses.
There are so many things in this world that will make us feel unqualified or not good enough. The artifical nature of social media has highlighted that over and over again. We only see a glimpse into peoples’ “perfect” worlds, when in all actuality their lives/relationships are far beyond perfect.
STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS AND LOOK TO GOD FOR YOUR IDENTITY! Afterall, your qualifications come from Him!
