The month of June is commonly celebrated as Pride month. For this month, I just wanted to drop a nugget of God’s truth. Don’t worry, it’s nothing hateful, but may be controversial to some.

Dear LGBTQIA+ community,

God loves you more than you can ever imagine!

God’s love is unconditional

It’s NOT based on performance or how good you are. He loves you because you are His child that He truly cares for. That may be hard for some to fathom since some of us didn’t have our fathers in our lives, in one way or the other. Some may have had their fathers present, but they were either abusive or completely ignored us. This may make us hesitant to accept God’s love (or love from others), but God already knows this. He will continue to speak to us in our own unique ways that we can understand. In fact, He will do whatever it takes to bring you back to Him (back home).

Many dishonest tax collectors and other notorious sinners often gathered around to listen as Jesus taught the people. This raised concerns among the Jewish religious leaders and experts of the law. Indignant, they grumbled and complained, saying, “Look at how this man associates with all these notorious sinners and welcomes them all to come to him!
In response, Jesus gave them this illustration: “There once was a shepherd with a hundred lambs, but one of his lambs wandered away and was lost. So the shepherd left the ninety-nine lambs out in the open field and searched in the wilderness for that one lost lamb. He didn’t stop until he finally found it. With exuberant joy, he raised it up, placed it on his shoulders, and carried it back with cheerful delight! Returning home, he called all his friends and neighbors together and said, ‘Let’s have a party! Come and celebrate with me the return of my lost lamb. It wandered away, but I found it and brought it home.’

Jesus continued, “In the same way, there will be a glorious celebration in heaven over the rescue of one lost sinner who repents, comes back home, and returns to the fold—more so than for all the righteous people who never strayed away.”

Luke 15:1-7 (TPT)

God does NOT hate you!

In the past, some Christians may have said some very hurtful things to you all. Some may have declared that God supposedly “hates you because you are a sinner”. I’m here to tell you that this statement is NOT true.

There are unfortunately still religious people out there (similar to the religious leaders in Jesus’ day) that want to look down on others so they can point out peoples flaws instead of checking themselves (especially their own hearts). After all, we have all sinned and have fallen short (Romans 3:23 [NLT]). But thank you Jesus for the cross!

Speaking of the cross, if God truly hated sinners, He would have never sent His only son (Jesus Christ) to die on the cross for our sins while we were still sinners! However, God is a good Father! Our sin completely separated us from God and made us spiritually dead. Knowing this, God knew the only way to redeem us (His children, who were actively sinning & loving it) was to give His only son as a sacrifice for our sins. God did it because HE LOVES US and was/is willing to do whatever it takes to get us back! So through Christ, there is no more separation from God. All we have to do is say “yes” to Him.

You [Jesus] didn’t want heaven without us
So Jesus You brought heaven down
My sin was great Your love was greater
What could separate us now…

Lastly, an apology

I know, seems a bit weird, but I do want to apologize to you all (the LGBTQIA+ community). I want to apologize on behalf of what other “Christians” have said or done to you in the past, present, or future. They weren’t showing you God love or being a Christ like example to you, and for that I am truly sorry. I just pray that you know that not every Christian hates or despises you all. You all are human beings and children of God like the rest of us. I’m sorry they didn’t treat you as such.

As Pride month continues on, please be safe, have fun, and know God loves you!
