I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.-Psalms 40: 1-2 (NLT)

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

-Psalms 40: 1-2 (NLT)

I recently read the scripture above in a different light. While reading the book Stronger than the Struggle: Uncomplicating Your Spiritual Battle by Havilah Cunnington, she enlightens the reader on how “the devil comes to shake you” while “God comes to steady you”. Without revealing too much in the book, which I HIGHLY recommend reading for your self, she then quotes this scripture from Psalms 40: 1-2 in The Passion Translation (TPT):

I waited and waited and waited some more, patiently, knowing God would come through for me. Then, at last, he bent down and listened to my cry.

He stooped down to lift me out of danger from the desolate pit I was in, out of the muddy mess I had fallen into. Now he’s lifted me up into a firm, secure place and steadied me while I walk along his ascending path.

-Psalms 40: 1-2 (TPT)

You may want to meditate on this scripture while doing your daily mindfulness exercises. Before you get started, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and give you revelation while meditating on this verse.
