Weight Loss Journey Pt. 2
Follow-up Post!
This is a follow-up to my original Weight Loss Journey post from May 2022.

I was originally planning to post an update on my weight loss journey two to three months after my initial post (around July or August of 2022). Things were going great since I was able to lose 30 pounds in a three month time frame, then a major life event happened. I didn’t feel comfortable sharing until the time was right. That being said, I finally feel comfortable sharing the good news since I only have a few weeks left with this new change.
My Husband & I Are Expecting!!
I had a strong feeling that I was going to conceive once I started losing weight, but still kept an open mind and maintained my new lifestyle changes since my focus in being healthy overall. Then this blessing surprised my husband & I during the time frame I planned on posting my update.
Throughout this pregnancy, I’ve been focusing on healthy eating and exercise since it benefits myself and the baby. I made a few changes to my routine though. Instead of focusing on my overall calorie intake, I switched to focusing on my carbohydrate intake with each meal and snack (which led to healthier food choices). Despite being pregnant, I avoided overindulging in my food consumption. The temptation was/is there; however, after seeing a registered dietician and reading a pregnancy specific nutrition book, I’ve learned that one does not need to “eat for two”. In fact, a pregnant woman does not need to “eat extra” until the second trimester and even then she shouldn’t overdue it.
Exercise is still a priority for me. I continued going to the gym quite regularly during my first trimester, but started tapering off as my pregnancy continued. I continue to do low-impact cardio and light weight lifting even though I’m nearly due (which I, by the way, I made sure was safe to do with my obstetrician before continuing with this or any exercise routine).
Other than that, my weight loss journey will be on hold temporarily. I don’t plan on actively starting to lose weight again until a couple months after birth (mainly once I get the OK from my doctor). Until then, I’ll wait to post another weight loss journey blog!
Have a blessed day everyone!
